Third Annual Polar Express

We went on our 3rd annual polar express trip this weekend. This is an old steam train called the Heber Creeper. Creeper explaining how slow the train moves. The cars are very old and drafty, but the kids love it. There are teenage "elfs" that serve cookies and hot chocolate, a "host" that reads the Polar Express book and leads the group in carols. The train conductor comes to check all the tickets. The highlight is that we reach the North Pole and then both Santa and Mrs. Claus come in to see us. All of the children get a bell, just like the book.

Erin had a special trip because she had to use the restroom. We had to go through all of the cars and between the cars (scary) to get to the restroom! Sam loved Mrs. Claus and was just a little bit afraid of Santa.
